Imagine the neighbors' fury and horror if and when I blast these songs on the stereo at a loud volume.
"Angel Eyes" was the first ABBA song that I fell in love with.
The warehouse store that we had patronized was playing this on their player and naturally, Mama Carrie inquired, found the The Definitive Collection album (which unfortunately cracked on its flight here).
For an innocent 11-year-old, to fall in love with "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "The Winner Takes It All" is weird when it talks about the demise of a relationship. But I did.
And still love these two songs until today.
Listening to this song again many years down the line has associated itself with someone in the past memory.
I love ABBA's "One of us"...and "On and on and on", same album...if I'm not mistaken. Among the favourites of mine by the group...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it's from the same album, but it's worth a check later. =)
DeleteTake Mama Carrie for example. She says that "Fernando" always reminds her of a former friend and the history between them. Not in the lovey dovey way, though.
my favourite
ReplyDeleteYour favorite band, cquek? ABBA's songs are the classics that have withstood the time although the members have broken up with each other...
DeleteMy mom's favorite band - ABBA. Heh. I can actually remember the lyrics to most of their songs...
ReplyDeleteIt's memorable for me too coz one of the proms I went to when I was 16 in Christchurch, NZ was playing "Dancing Queen".
The old one by ABBA not the new one.
If you want songs to annoy your neighbor can I suggest NOFX. Or Lab4, the bass would drive them insane. ;)
Hope you're having a better time! *hugs
Cool, that's great! Me too, there are a couple of them that I can hum offhand.
DeleteHuh, there's a new ABBA? Or do you mean "Mamma Mia" the movie? Whoa, I'm not that mean but I might take your suggestions to heart. =)
Thanks, HB. I think I'm feeling better after the day out with my good friend.
that's a song of memories :) starting to miss it after listening to it
ReplyDeleteLatest: J for Japanese
A whole load of memories for me too, Fish. =)
DeleteSome of which however aren't exactly suitable for public knowledge...
Oh crap I think my net connection cut off when I wrote a very long reply here. Heh.
ReplyDeleteI was saying that ABBA was one of my mom's early favorites, used to listen to a lot of it when I was a kid.
I can remember most of the lyrics, pretty useful when Dancing Queen came out as one of the songs during high school prom when I was studying in NZ.
Can I suggest NOFX (the band) if you want to irritate your neighbors? Pretty good punk band. Or Lab4 (now defunct duo of hardstyle DJs) if you want to cause a lot of bass damage. ;)
Take care!
Hmm, no wonder the reply sounded weird. No offense, yeah.
DeleteI see. Ah, Dancing Queen. I think that was the first ABBA song that I heard of. Used to sing along to it when everyone was out of the house.
And ruin their hearing? That ... would be lovely, but I think I'll stick to the likes of Linkin Park or Simple Plan.
You take care too, yeah?
I remember happily singing to Abba as a kid...hmmm I still do these days>.<
ReplyDeleteEve, no one has said that we can't sing along to our favorite songs in public....
DeleteDon't worry, you're not alone. I know I still do that too. =D
