So, This is Goodbye

A view of the KLIA airport tarmac | Somewhere from the Malaysian Airlines' Golden Lounge

So, this is goodbye.
The broken hearts scattered along the uneven trails
Coated with remnants of a happier time;
Echoes of laughter filling the air
And ever-lasting brightening smiles.

Memories that taught us love,
The love that once connected us.
Separated by divergent routes with a common goal
Remain the dreams we once shared,
Cemented in our psyches.

The light in our eyes,
Dimmed by the hardships we endured.
Our beliefs,
Fractured by the silent nightly battles
And diminished by the consequences.

History dragging us through familiar territories.
A chance to make amends,
To change the past.
The scarred soul able to make a difference
And silence the bleeding hearts.

  1. This is a lovely poem, Ciana. Very melancholic. Hardships and unexpected differences can be hard and people grow in different directions. Sometimes it is best to go separate ways eventhough no one wants to take that option. At the end of the day I think each of us want people to be happy, though that can be hard to admit. You can always try again and sometimes, that just works out. Hope you are doing well and thank you for sharing your poetry :)

    1. Thanks, Mabel. We all have to make those unwanted decisions, especially if it means protecting ourselves in the long run.

      Happy New Year, btw! =)

    2. Or even if it means prioritizing the other party's happiness.
