the skeeter davis song brings back memories ... my grandfather had a lot of cassette tapes, and one that we played often in the 1980s had the end of the world as its highlight ...
That must have been a sweet memory, Sean. =) It's actually my Mom who introduced the song to me, said that her aunt used to play End of the World all of the time. Not sure why, but I think it's because of its soothing lyrics.
I remember a song with the same title but it's by REM. It goes "It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine". I know it coz PETA or some other organization used it for a video and they gave out CDs at the time (late 90's). CDs were really expensive then, especially CDs with .AVI video files inside so I kept it and played it often. This was before MP3 so having a song AND video was awesome.
Two artists I've heard of before, but am not really familiar with their music. Thanks for sharing and hope you're well. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Yum List, you're most welcome. =) I'm doing alright here, just have extremely busy with uni and assignments.
DeleteWhat? Whose the asshole who made you feel like these songs?
ReplyDeleteWhoa, CL, I'm not experiencing any heartbreak at the moment. It's just that I'm captivated by both the melody and the lyrics. *winks*
DeleteI know Skeeter and I'm very familiar with The End of the World, and I know Westlife too though I am not familiar with this one. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI think it's on one of Westlife's more recent albums, suituapui. =)

ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty good idea for the organization to incorporate! I'm assuming that this must be some time back, HB?
