I'm still unsure on how to make of it. I'm not the type who easily breaks down in her dreams, but it caught me this time - especially since it involved the love of my life: dogs.
I dreamt that I was experiencing a difficult phase in life (dream meets reality?) when I'd always see a Golden Retriever around me. Although the dog was wearing a leash, the owner was nowhere to be in sight. It was like the Goldie was sent to cheer me up or soothe the negative emotions I felt because I'd feel much more peaceful after spending time with it.
Towards the end of the dream, I saw the same dog; it was wagging its tail furiously. Something in me suspected that this could be the last time I'd see the Goldie. I knelt in front of the dog and hugged it, whispering, "Yes, I know you've to go. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Only thing I didn't expect was me crying my heart out after uttering those words - to the point that I woke up with tears streaming down in my face and shortness of breath.
i've never had dreams quite that emotional before, but i hope that perhaps this dream provides you a space to release the emotions you have inside you, and hopefully allow you to heal and feel progressively better ...
ReplyDeleteThis is not the first one, to be honest, Sean... I didn't want to share about that because it's too personal for me to write it on a public domain. I'm assuming that it has to do with the suppressed emotions, me missing my fur-brother or probably me just being at a crossroads in life. =/
DeleteI adore pets too & own a Shih Tzu. Pets do wonders sometimes, even in dreams. Do you own any pets? xoxo
ReplyDeleteYes, I used to, Shirley. =) It's just that moving countries made it hard to keep a dog. =(
DeleteI've seen my Big Fat's legs moving while he was asleep, which made me wonder once or twice whether he's dreaming about running.
I can't say I've ever woken crying from a dream. Jolted awake startled by a nightmare - yes many times.
ReplyDeleteThis is not the first time, though, Yum List. . . not sure why I'd wake up from a dream with tears, but I guess it is what it is. *sighs*
DeleteI believe that our subconscious affects our dreams...
ReplyDeleteThat could be something related to that but I wouldn't be presumptuous enough to guess at what the dog means. Everyone would love a loyal companion by our sides.
Hope you're doing well! <3
I believe that too, HB. I suspected that the dream was heavily influenced by my emotions that day. I felt like I was carrying the world on my shoulder and not feeling myself. I'm just gonna chalk that up to academic stress and the change of seasons - for now.
DeleteGolden Retriever usually means loyalty, but the fact that I cried upon seeing it changes things slightly. It may mean a loss of something precious or someone loyal to me, I wouldn't know, but dreams can be that weird at times. *cringes*
I'm much better now, thanks! <3 I'm trying to redirect the negative energy into tutorial work, lectures and everything academic-related. =)
